sam: you’re scared because your year is running out and you’re still going to hell and you’re freaked!
dean: and how do you know that?“This is exactly how you act when you’re terrified.”
Okay that? Right there? Is EXACTLY FUCKING IT. And also yet another reason why I ship Wincest. Because Sam knows. He just knows and there’s nothing Dean can do to hide from Sam. Hell, the more Dean tries all his favorite hiding tricks, the more obvious he is to Sam.
So whenever I see someone commenting about what a dick Dean is (or whatever other variation on this theme), I just kinda shake my head, because it’s so obvious Dean’s just burrowing as deep as he possibly can behind that shield of his. And if Sam can see right through it…. exactly why is it so hard for the rest of the fandom?
Oh, I see it, but look at the tears in Sam’s eyes. He hurts just as much.
Of course he does! Look, I’m not saying it’s right for Dean to act this way. Hell, it’s completely unhealthy and fucked up for him to act like this, and for him to treat Sam (and anyone else who tries to help him) like this. But Sam understands why Dean’s being this way.
And understanding Dean’s asshole behavior doesn’t excuse it, or invalidate Sam’s hurt, which is apparent by the way Sam is standing up for himself here, telling Dean he knows exactly what he’s doing.
But they are both just two very different people (as similar as they CAN be), and their reactions and decisions when faced with conflict/stress/the end of the world as they know it…. is completely different. And… I don’t know, man. I just don’t see why seeing/acknowledging one person’s pain, has to somehow mean you don’t see the other’s pain.

Favorite show scene ever, I think.
